I just can’t wait to meet more Michigan Runner Girls — this is what I keep thinking this week as I read through the great comments shared by so many of you when I announced I had two race entries for next month’s Detroit Women’s Half Marathon & 5K to give away, and as I’ve been receiving pre-orders for MRG hoodies that will be available at the race’s Expotique the weekend of Sept. 20-21.
In less than one month I’ll be “running the D” with many of you — I’m signed on for the half-marathon, with a few of my best running friends — and I hope to have the chance to say hello in person to lots of MRG readers!
I’m excited to announce that two of you have won FREE entry to this race, thanks to MRG’s partnership with race organizers. Epic Races, which is behind the event, generously offered two entries — good for the half-marathon, 5K or the virtual race. Without further ado, here are the two winners, chosen at random:
1.) Brenda H.:
“Our oldest child is starting her senior year this year, so I committed to no full marathons (to keep training time down) and limited racing (to save some extra money) until after she graduates next spring. I’d love to run this half though and have gotten in enough mileage to feel I’d be ready, so a free entry would make that possible.”
2.) Sarah V.T.
“I wanted to run the D last year but health issues made it impossible to train (or get more than 9 miles a week, on a “good” week). This year I’m still struggling but found a way to train for my first half Sept. 6. I would Run the D for my sister who nearly died of heart failure 7 years ago. We Go Red For Women and we both run now.
Congratulations, Brenda and Sarah! Please email me at michiganrunnergirl [at] gmail [dot] com to claim your prize.
Thanks to everyone who entered this giveaway!
