Marathon training and lots o’ running are well underway for Emma and me (who, as you may know from the MRG Facebook page is training for her first 26.2, the Bayshore Marathon here in Traverse City), and we sit down to share how things are going so far for this latest episode of the Michigan Runner Girl Podcast. Also joining us: special guest…my hubby and Emma’s dad, Joe, who is planning to run the 10K at this Memorial Day weekend’s Bayshore races. {To listen to this episode, click on the player at the top of this post}

What happens when parents and their 17-year-old daughter get together to record a podcast? Plenty of laughs, a little good-natured family ribbing, and even some backstory on the first time Joe and I ever ran together, back in the summer of 1996. (Let’s just say it didn’t go so well.)
Emma and I also talk about the marathon plan we’re following (a plan from my friends Sarah and Dimity of Another Mother Runner), the Michigan Runner Girl YouTube Channel we started to chronicle our training (check it out and please subscribe if you’re interested in following along!), how Emma’s plant-based eating is working with her running, and how Joe has gotten into a groove of early-morning running (and why he doesn’t like to eat anything before he heads out for a few miles). We also chat about spring break and summer plans – and how we’re hoping to incorporate some running and exploring as much as possible. It was a lot of fun having Joe in the studio for the first time, having him part of the podcast conversation. Thanks for taking a listen!
