Writing this post today is especially timely given the temperature outside: 88 degrees.

It’s steamy hot. It feels like summer.

Never mind that it’s going to cool off into the 50s this coming week. That’s fine. Today, I am savoring the heat and this delicious taste of what we all have to look forward to as we inch ever so closer to summer…

GlenArbor-SolsticeLogoLong-HonorBank-1500Today, along with enjoying this summer afternoon with my office window wide open, I am happy to have one free entry to next month’s Glen Arbor Solstice Half Marathon & 5K to give away. Maybe you’re like me and have been itching to run this race for a few years now. Or maybe you’ve run the half or 5K before and would like to do so again. Either way, race organizers Endurance Evolution have offered one free entry, to either the half or 5K, to one MRG reader.

I’m looking forward to the gorgeous scenery and great race vibe (I helped work an aid station on the half marathon course a couple of years ago and it was such a great experience). Here’s more about the half and 5K courses from race director Eric Houghton:

“The half marathon has amazing scenery! Some of the best in Leelanau County. The view at the scenic turnout at Inspiration Point is breathtaking and the run through the “narrows” with views of Big and Little Glen Lake and the dunes will help ease the pain near mile 11. The 5K is essentially traffic-free on the tree-lined avenues just off downtown Glen Arbor. It is a flat and relatively easy course.”

Ready to run it? To enter to win free entry, please comment below why you’d like to run this race AND what you like most about summertime in Michigan.

The giveaway starts today, May 7, 2015, and ends next Wednesday, May 13, 2015. The winner will be announced here on the blog toward the end of next week.

Good luck to everyone!
