Each Friday I’ll share a popular post from the current week’s Michigan Runner Girl Facebook page. If you’re not already part of the MRG community over there, please join us for lively conversation about all things running in the Mitten–looking forward to seeing you there!

January 9, 2015

Joe and I don’t often run together — our paces differ and while I prefer longer distances, he’s happiest running 5Ks and occasionally a 10K.

But tonight we ran side-by-side, a planned 2-miler together stretching to just over 3.

We kept a steady pace, running in comfortable silence much of the way, the sound of snow crunching beneath our feet.

The truth is, we’d left a house in which everyone was a bit on edge (3 snow days in one week can do that to a family). I wouldn’t blame our kids for being glad to see their parents *just go* for awhile. They needed the space, too.

The fresh, cold air…the peacefulness of the evening outdoors…the forward motion of our bodies…it’s just what we needed.

Yet again I was reminded of the power of a run.

When was the last time you experienced the power of a run?
