Kalamazoo Area Runner’s Turkey Trot gives participants the opportunity to race for their well-being before they race for seconds at the dinner table! Held each year on Thanksgiving morning, the Turkey Trot 5K Time Prediction Run is a holiday tradition and a perfect way to celebrate Thanksgiving while financially supporting the Kalamazoo Area Runners. Food donations are also accepted for the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
 
The 5K running event is at the Portage Cross Country course that is used for the Portage Invitational. It is located behind Portage West Middle School and Moorsbridge Elementary School. The course is not paved and many sections are classified as cross country paths. As a time prediction, the event rewards fitness because paces are set by the participant. Consequently, timing devises cannot be used during the run.
 
The event features awards, giveaways, camaraderie, and medals for the people who have the fastest time within their age categories.
